Whether you’re like me, a blogger looking to visualize your words, an artist seeking new inspiration, or simply someone who enjoys exploring the latest AI technology, AI image input is a fascinating and exciting tool to try out.

Let’s Talk About It!

Understanding AI Image Input Generation

Machine Learning

Artificial Intelligence or AI, has made significant strides in recent years, particularly in the field of machine learning.

Text-to-Image AI generators are a type of machine learning algorithm that generates images from text prompts. They use a combination of natural language processing and computer vision techniques to understand the text and create a corresponding image.

You can choose watercolor images (my personal favorite), cartoon style, Anime, oil painting, digital, photo, etc…

More information on different image styles will be explained further down, but the realism on many of them is incredible and sometimes, you have to really look to see if it was AI generated.

The more I use it, the more I can distinguish if it was AI made or real. Not always though. It is that good.

I like to use it to generate my images for this blog in particular. I also use it for content for my printable business as well as just for fun!

How AI Creates Visuals from Text Prompts

AI creates visuals from text prompts by breaking down the text into individual components and using those components to generate corresponding visual elements.

For example, if the text prompt is “a red apple on a table,” the AI will identify the color “red,” the object “apple,” and the location “table.” It will then use this information to generate a visual representation of the prompt.

AI image generators can also create variations of the same image based on different text prompts. For example, if the text prompt is “a green apple on a table,” the AI will generate a different image with a green apple instead of a red one.

Most times if not always, it will be a different table and background. Reason behind this is because the prompt was not very specific. If I said a watercolor image of a red apple on a wooden table in a farmhouse kitchen in front of a window looking outdoors to the red barn.

Exploring Different Image Styles

As stated above, when it comes to generating images from text using AI, the style of the image can greatly affect the final result.

There are many different image styles to choose from, ranging from abstract to realistic. In this section, we’ll explore some of the most popular image styles and how they can be used to generate unique and creative images.

From Abstract to Realistic

One of the most popular image styles is abstract. Abstract images are often created using bold colors, geometric shapes, and unusual patterns. They can be used to represent emotions, concepts, or ideas in a way that is open to interpretation.

Realistic images, on the other hand, aim to depict the world around us as accurately as possible. They often use shading, texture, and lighting to create a lifelike image.

Specialized Styles: Anime, Cyberpunk, and More

In addition to abstract and realistic styles, there are also many specialized image styles that can be used to generate unique images.

Anime style images, for example, are often characterized by their large eyes, colorful hair, and exaggerated features.

Cyberpunk style images, on the other hand, often feature futuristic technology, neon lights, and a dark atmosphere. Other specialized styles include cartoon, watercolor, and oil painting.

3D Style Image Generation

Another popular style for generating images is 3D style. This can be used to create realistic or fantastical images. They also can be used to create images of objects, environments, or characters.

My experience using 3D style is to incorporate it into my prompt.

Here was my text prompt: create a 3D ultra image of the text Laurie written in big bold chrome gold letters, with a backsplash of a burst of yellow and gold paint, yellow diamonds, kitty ears, diamonds, red and black bursts behind the name, add a little red and gold smoke bursting with diamonds, gold colors on a black background, with a cute fluffy cat sitting on top with lots of detail.

Whether you’re looking for an abstract representation of an idea or a realistic depiction of the world around us, there is a style that can help you achieve this.

Explore different image styles and experiment with different techniques. You can create unique and creative images that are sure to capture the end result you want.

The Creative Process

Crafting the Perfect Text Prompt

The first step in generating a great image is to come up with a text prompt that will inspire the AI to create something unique. The prompt should be clear and concise, and should ideally contain specific details that will help guide the AI’s creative process. For example, instead of simply asking the AI to create an image a watercolor landscape, you could ask it to create a watercolor image of a stream flowing through mountain landscape.

Editing and Refining AI-Generated Images

Once the AI has generated an image based on your text prompt, it’s important to take the time to edit and refine the image to ensure that it meets your needs.

This may involve adjusting the colors, cropping the image, or adding text or other elements to the image to make it more visually appealing.

Stay open-minded and be willing to experiment and try new things. Sometimes, you will need some patience and persistence to achieve the result you want, but it is fun in the process.

AI Image Input Generators in Action

Generating Images for Social Media and Marketing

AI image generators have also found a place in the world of social media and marketing. Brands can and do use these tools to quickly and easily generate images for their marketing.

For example, a restaurant could write “a plate of spaghetti with meatballs and garlic bread” and an AI image generator could create a mouth-watering image to use on their social media accounts.

Using AI for Digital Art and Illustration

AI image generators are also being used by digital artists and illustrators as a tool to aid in their creative process. These tools can help generate ideas and provide a starting point for a new piece of art.

For example, an illustrator could write “a magical forest with a unicorn and a rainbow” and an AI image generator could create a rough sketch to use as a reference.

In my own work of watercolor, I have used AI to give me some ideas for sketches as there is nothing I dislike more than to stare at a blank canvas.

Don’t get me wrong, I can sketch my own work, but sometimes I just need a little help in a new idea.

Be careful what you believe to real and AI generated on social media. I have see too many colorful birds and animals that look so realistic that are shared and have read the comments that many believe these birds or animals really exist. Use your common sense.

Technical Aspects of AI Image Input

When it comes to generating images using AI, there are several technical aspects that you should keep in mind. By understanding these aspects you can create high-quality and beautiful images.

This is something I am learning myself so I can generate even better images. So here is what I have been learning.

Understanding Resolution and Aspect Ratios

Resolution and aspect ratios are important factors to consider when generating images using AI.

Resolution refers to the number of pixels in an image, while aspect ratio refers to the ratio of the width to the height of an image.

Higher resolution and correct aspect ratios can result in better quality and more accurate images. It is essential to choose the right resolution and aspect ratio for your project to ensure that your images look great on all devices.

For example: if I said create a an image of a beach landscape with a setting sun in alcohol ink lined in gold. AR 3:4

Examples of a few aspect ratios (AR):

  • Square (1:1): Good for any image
  • Mobile vertical (9:16): Good for phone backgrounds
  • Portrait (3:4): Good for portraits or any image you want in a taller aspect ratio
  • Widescreen (16:9): Good for landscape images and grand scenes
  • Landscape (4:3): Good for a scene you want to widen a bit

Image Quality and File Formats

The quality of your AI-generated image can depend on the file format you choose. JPEG is the most commonly used file format for images, but it can result in a loss of quality due to compression. PNG and TIFF are other file formats that can retain higher quality images.

My preference is PNG. I like to save the majority of my own in this format to help retain the quality.

It is also important to consider the compression level when saving your image. Higher compression levels can result in smaller file sizes, but lower quality images.

It is best to experiment with different file formats and compression levels to find the right balance between quality and file size.

You will sometimes notice that when you download your image, and then upload to another platform, the quality is not what you originally created. So see which works best for you.

Time-Saving Benefits and Efficiency

Generating images using AI can save you a lot of time and effort compared to traditional methods. With AI, you can create images quickly and efficiently, without the need for manual labor.

Be sure to let your audience know that you are using AI generated images. Be transparent and honest about your work.

Legal and Ethical Considerations

When it comes to generating images using AI art generators, there are some legal and ethical considerations to keep in mind. Here are some key points to consider:

Copyright and Fair Use

Copyright is an important consideration when it comes to using AI art generators. If you are using an AI tool to generate an image, you need to ensure that you have the right to use the source material.

This means that you should only use images that are in the public domain or that you have obtained permission to use.

With that said, if you are uploading an image to AI to use in a final product, the image you used to create the AI version, you must have the correct permissions to use the original image.

Fair use is another important consideration when it comes to using AI art generators. Fair use allows for limited use of copyrighted material without permission from the copyright owner.

However, it is important to note that fair use is not a blanket exception to copyright law and should be used with caution.

Terms of Service for AI Tools

When using AI art generators, it is important to read and understand the terms of service for the tool you are using. Some tools may have restrictions on how you can use the generated images, while others you may claim ownership of the images.

It is important to understand these restrictions before using the tool to avoid any legal issues.

As AI art generators become more advanced, it is likely that the legal and ethical considerations will continue to evolve. It is important to stay up-to-date on these issues to ensure that you are using these tools in a responsible and legal manner.

Keep checking that the platform you use has not changed their Terms of Use every so often. They have the right to do so, and it is up to you to keep track of this.

I use DALLE-3 and as of the date of writing this post, I checked and I am still good to use these images in the way that I do. With that said, you still need to check and not go by my word for it!
