A printable tracker can help you stay organized and keep track of your progress each month.
The purpose of a monthly printable goal setting tracker is to help you set and achieve your goals, whether they are related to your personal life, career, health, or any other area. With a tracker, you can set specific goals for each month, track your progress, and celebrate your successes, whether big or small.
Understanding Goal-Setting
When it comes to achieving success, setting goals is an essential step. It helps you to focus on what you want to achieve and keeps you motivated throughout your journey.
The Importance of Setting Goals
Setting goals is crucial for personal and professional development. It helps you to:
- Stay focused: Setting goals helps you to prioritize your tasks and focus on what is important. It helps you to avoid distractions and stay on track.
- Measure progress: Goals provide a benchmark for measuring progress. It helps you to track your progress and make adjustments if necessary.
- Motivate yourself: Goals give you a sense of purpose and direction. It helps you to stay motivated and committed to achieving your objectives.
- Achieve success: Goals provide a roadmap for success. It helps you to identify what you want to achieve and how to get there.
Different Types of Goals
There are different types of goals you can set, depending on your needs and objectives. Some of the most common types of goals include:
- S.M.A.R.T. goals: S.M.A.R.T. goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound. These goals are well-defined and provide a clear roadmap for achieving success.
- Long-term goals: Long-term goals are those that you want to achieve in the distant future. These goals require a lot of planning and commitment.
- Short-term goals: Short-term goals are those that you want to achieve in the near future. These goals are easier to achieve and provide a sense of accomplishment.
- Life goals: Life goals are those that you want to achieve in your lifetime. These goals are often related to personal growth and development.
I worked in retail management and during yearly evaluations, I always had my team come up with at least one goal for themselves. During their evaluations, we planned those goals out the S.M.A.R.T. way.
Goal setting is very familiar to me as I know they are effective and they work!

Choosing Your Monthly Goals
It’s important to choose goals that are both achievable and meaningful to you.
Setting Personal and Professional Goals
Your monthly goals should include both personal and professional. For example, you might want to focus on improving your career skills while also prioritizing your health and well-being.
By setting a mix of personal and professional goals, you can achieve a sense of balance in your life.
Consider setting career goals that are specific and measurable, such as completing a certification or taking on a new project. For personal goals, you might focus on building healthier habits, like drinking more water or getting more exercise.
Balancing Your Life
It’s also important to consider the different areas of your life when setting monthly goals. You might want to focus on improving your relationships with family, learning a new skill, or pursuing a passion project.
To help with the balance, consider using a habit tracker in your printable tracker. This can help you stay on track with daily habits that contribute to your overall well-being, such as meditation or journaling.
Whether you have a profession, stay at home mom (or domestic Goddess as I like to say) or are retired, etc., you still need balance in your life. Make sure your goals can balance on your scale with the goal itself and life in general.

Planning for Success Within Your Goal Setting
To achieve your goals, you need to plan for success. This means establishing clear objectives, prioritizing your goals, and setting milestones and deadlines to keep you on track.
Remember, we are following the S.M.A.R.T. way to do things.
Establishing Clear Objectives
The first step in planning for success is to establish clear objectives. This involves defining what you want to achieve and why it is important to you. You should also consider the resources you have available and any obstacles you may face along the way.
There will always be obstacles, and you need to consider that. You can’t be discouraged when the first one shows up. Knowing they may arise and what to do about them will help you to be successful.
laurie’s Printables Tip:
Breaking your goals down to bite-sized pieces is key. Your main goal, then break it down.
Say you want to build an addition onto your house. A big project. Write down all the steps you need to take from the permit, to buying the materials, hiring a contractor, etc.
Break each one down to take it one step at a time. Check them off your list and go to the next one. If there are any set backs, prepare for that. Weather, finances, health could all play into factor. Have a plan for that.
Goal setting should not be difficult if you know exactly what you want, how you want to achieve it and how long you need to get to that goal.
Prioritizing Your Goals
Once you have established your objectives, you need to prioritize your goals. This involves deciding which goals are most important to you and which ones you should focus on first.
To help you prioritize your goals, you can create a simple list. This will help you identify which goals are urgent and important, which ones are important but not urgent, and which ones can be deferred or even delegated.
By prioritizing your goals, you can focus your efforts on the most important tasks and make the most of your time and resources.

Tracking Progress and Staying Motivated
Now it’s time to track the progress of your goals.
Regularly Reviewing Your Goals
One of the most important things you can do to stay motivated is to regularly review your goals. This helps you stay focused on what you want to achieve and reminds you of why you started in the first place.
A monthly review template can help you keep track of your progress and identify areas where you need to improve.
When reviewing your goals, it’s important to celebrate your biggest wins. This will help you stay motivated and give you the energy to keep going. It’s also important to identify your biggest mistakes, or what I call opportunities, and learn from them. This will help you avoid making the same mistakes in the future.
Overcoming Obstacles and Setbacks
No matter how motivated you are, there will be times when you face obstacles and setbacks. It’s important to remember that setbacks are a normal part of the process, and they don’t mean you should give up on your goals.
When you face these setbacks, it’s important to stay positive and keep moving forward.
A progress tracker can help you see how far you’ve come and remind you of what you’ve accomplished. It’s also important to remind yourself of why you started in the first place and the benefits you’ll gain from achieving your goals.

Incorporating Goals into Daily Life
Let’s incorporate those goals into your daily life. We will set up routines and timelines to achieve these goals
Creating Daily and Weekly Routines
One of the best ways to make progress towards your goals is to create daily and weekly routines that align with them. Start by identifying the specific actions you need to take to achieve your goals, and then create a schedule that includes those activities.
For example, if your goal is to exercise more frequently, create a daily routine that includes time for working out.
Your goal setting tracker will have a page for this specific routine to track daily/weekly/monthly.
You can also add any other goal you have made for yourself. When it comes to any sort of health tracker, you should include, daily water intake, food/calorie intake, exercise, mental health should also be included.
To help you stay on track, consider creating a daily or weekly goals template to add to your monthly tracker. These can help you visualize your progress and keep you motivated to continue working towards your goals.
Adapting Goals to Life Changes
Life is unpredictable, and it’s essential to be flexible with your goals. If you experience a significant life change, such as a new job or a move to a new city, it’s essential to adapt your goals accordingly.
For example, if you have a daily goal of reading for 30 minutes, but your new job requires more time and energy, you may need to adjust your goal to 15 minutes a day. This way, you can still make progress towards your goal without feeling overwhelmed or discouraged.
Remember S.M.A.R.T. goals? The achievable and realistic come into play. If you already know you will have obstacles, plan for that and be realistic.
You may want to consider creating a habit tracker. These trackers can help you identify patterns in your behavior and make adjustments as needed.
Laurie’s Printables Tip:
Reflecting and Adjusting
At the end of each month, you will want to reflect on the past month and see how far you progressed. This is the time to make adjustments to your schedule.
Monthly Review and Adaptation
Take some time to review your progress towards your goal. Look at what you accomplished, what you didn’t, and what you could have done differently. This can help you identify any patterns or areas where you need to make changes.
Once you’ve reviewed your progress, it’s time to adapt your goals for the upcoming month. This might mean adjusting your current goals, adding new ones, or removing ones that are no longer relevant. Be sure to set realistic goals that are achievable within the next month.
Setting Goals for the Upcoming Month
When setting goals for the upcoming month, it’s important to be specific and measurable. This will help you stay focused and motivated throughout the month.
For example, if one of your long-term goals is to improve your fitness, you might set a goal to go for a 30-minute walk every day for the next month. This goal is specific, measurable, and achievable within the next month.
As you set your goals for the upcoming month, be sure to prioritize them based on what’s most important to you. This will help you stay focused and avoid getting overwhelmed.

laurie’s Printables Tip:
If you set your mind to it, you can achieve it. It is all a mindset and telling yourself you will achieve your goal, it will happen.
A little story before we go. 6 years ago, we were going on a cruise to Bermuda. I wanted to ride horseback along the beaches of the Bermuda. It seemed like so much fun and I never even rode a horse before.
There was one caveat. You had to be under a certain weight to do so, and I was right at that weight limit.
I was determined to do this and even emailed the owner of the stable and said I want to make reservations to ride horseback. I paid and knew from that moment on, I needed to lose the weight.
I made a plan, stuck to it, and guess what, I lost over 80 pounds in that time and only wanted to lose about 30.
I made SMART goals. Not only did I achieve that goal, I exceeded it! Were there obstacles along the way? You bet! My mindset saw myself sitting on top of that horse riding along the beaches of Bermuda.
If I can do it, so can you!
Stay Colorful, Stay Creative, and HAVE FUN!
